Cascade View at Shevlin Commons
Shevlin Commons is a 34 lot development with perhaps the most sweeping views in Bend, Oregon. Lots are relatively flat and are generally without trees. Wind, sun and rain exposure in this area are important considerations in a custom home design.
“No square edges. I want the lines of my home to curve.” This was the request of our client and one of our challenges in designing this home.
Some exterior details are worth noting: durable stucco; a zinc roof, warmer and less reflective than other metals; a staircase to the upper deck which serves as both access and wind protection; windows punched into 8-inch walls for a smooth outward appearance; board form concrete walkways among the greenery on the living roof; private rear courtyard; small separate living space to accommodate guests and family.
A favorite interior detail is the custom concrete fireplace, precast onsite by a local artist.
